A mother’s lament

When you chose to give your love
To that man on mobile phone
Did you ever thinkg
He would love you more than I?

I chose to go for work
To give you a better life
An erroneous decision
The cost today- your life

What is my life today
That remembers in every way
How your lifeless body hung
From the bare roof on that day?

I cannot breathe today
Knowing you left your breath the day
He loved not you, but just your face
On this media of such disgrace

My mind and body is immune
Now to all what happens around
For my life’s motive is stung
Made weak by such venom

Of how I failed as your mother
By not giving you the love
Not being there to talk
When that is all you wanted

Hear me, those of you in power
Make heed to stop this disaster
Of facebook and mobile phones
That destroy life so precious

If only I had stayed
At home and given you the love
I still would have your smile, your voice
My sun, the moon in our house

(These lines are dedicated to the grief of a mother, who grieved wildly at the loss of her young daughter of 20, who hanged herself in their house as a result of a love affair on facebook in February 2014)
